They cover three core subjects—English, Mathematics, and Digital Skills—and are structured into levels: Entry Levels 1–3, Level 1, and Level 2. Level 2 is officially recognized as equivalent to a GCSE grade 4 (grade C) and serves as the minimum threshold for English and Mathematics proficiency required by most employers, apprenticeship programs, and further education courses.
Course Structure and Assessment
The English Level 1/2 qualification consists of three units: Speaking and Listening, which is assessed internally by instructors; and Reading and Writing, which are evaluated through computer-based or paper-based examinations. Where to Obtain a Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills Qualification certificate? These exams are offered multiple times throughout the year, allowing students to book a test date once they are prepared.
The Level 2 Reading exam lasts 75 minutes, while the Level 2 Writing exam lasts approximately 60 minutes. Students must pass all three units to earn the qualification; units that are not passed can be retaken, while results for units already passed are retained.
The Mathematics Level 1/2 qualification is assessed via a single examination comprising a non-calculator section (25 minutes) and a calculator section (90 minutes), available in either computer-based or paper-based formats.
